Role Summary
The Chief Consultant provides strategic advice, high-level analysis, and organisational guidance to support Secular Index in advancing its mission internationally. This role requires strong judgement, leadership, and the ability to assess complex social, policy, and institutional issues through a secular, ethical, and evidence-led lens.
Key Responsibilities
Provide advice on strategic direction, impact evaluation, and public policy influence.
Provide strategic counsel to leadership on publications, research, projects, partnerships, and public positioning.
Monitor and assess developments relevant to secularism, public policy, and institutional accountability across multiple regions.
Support advocacy, research, and watchdog initiatives with sound judgement and clear, evidence-based advice.
Engage with external organisations, universities, government bodies and parliaments for potential partnerships, projects and campaigning opportunities.
Identify emerging risks, opportunities, and trends that may affect our mission and impact.
Contribute to organisational planning, program development, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
Ideally the Chief Consultant should be a holder of a PhD. Alternatively, a master’s degree holder with demonstrated academic and research capabilities in social science, international relations or related fields.
Eight years of experience in nonprofit leadership, government leadership, policy analysis, strategic consulting or a related field.
High ethical standards, sound judgement, and a commitment to impartial, evidence-based assessment.
